    Hello!

Site Kit by Google plugin, unfortunately, fails to insert Google Tag Manager (GTM) snippet (including Google tag) into site (running on WP Engine with Genesis Infinity Pro theme) without issues.

On one hand, after installing and activating Site Kit as well as connecting Google services (including Tag Manger, Search Console, Analytics, Ads, and PageSpeed Insights), Site Kit and Tag Assistant (in both Chrome extension and GTM preview/connection) show that everything is fine (e.g., all tags are visible), as you can see from these screenshots.

On the other hand, the GTM container quality states URGENT issues (especially, “Tag not placed correctly: Your tag may be installed too low in the page, which can impact performance.”), as you can see from these screenshots.

In view of this, please advise how to fix those issues as soon as possible.

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @dbiryuk

The new urgent issue (“Tag not placed correctly”) that GTM has popped up actually relates to production (not staging) site.

Site Kit has placed the snippet as expected on your site, and it is tracking as expected, so you can ignore this warning. There are other snippets that are also placed in the head, not placed via Site Kit. These include WooCommerce, Meta Pixel and other snippets, along with inline CSS. This may be why such a warning may appear in Tag Manager, however, as mentioned previously, the product experts over at the official Tag Manager Help Center would be able to assist more on this than we an here in Site Kit support. Site Kit does place the header snippet as suggested, in the <head> of a site, and in your case there are many other elements added via other means to the head.

To implement your suggestion, please advise how to remove (dismiss) those?tag placement?and?staging domain linking?issues in GTM in order to clean its container status (make it “excellent”).

Good question. You don’t necessarily have to have all aspects of your Tag Manager set up guide appearing as excellent, rather you should ensure the tags are firing on all pages, as they seem to already be doing. It was identified that you may have been using a tag on your staging site, which would indicate why the linker suggestion appeared. I’m not sure at what point the suggestion will no longer occur, maybe Tag Manager checks for all linker domains periodically. This is something that the product experts over at the Tag Manager Help Center can assist with more than we can here in Site Kit support.
