• With the 5.0 upgrade, TwentyFifteen broke, so I moved to TwentyNineteen thinking that one for sure should work with upcoming updates. Unfortunately only 1 week later, after another forced upgrade, I found myself stuck again. This time I couldn’t fix it myself and had to pay $50 to fix it. WordPress is a hot mess! I sure hope things straighten out soon because they will loose my business. (I did submit a request for help over a week ago and never got a reply.) P.S. My site was up to date before the updates, so please don’t blame me. Grrrr!

Out of interest, what issue did you have with the Twenty Nineteen theme? Some hosting providers are automatically updating WordPress installations to major versions, which should not normally happen unless explicitely chosen by the website owner. I’m saying this because you mentioned a “force upgrade”.

The 2nd time it went down (while on TwentyNineteen) I couldn’t get into the admin page. The error message support was able to find was very long and said something about the theme function.php on line 3:313.

Yes, I’m on a Managed WP server.

I just don’t understand why a WP theme can’t deal with a WP upgrade. I did not modify the theme. I still wish this site was using TwentyFifteen, but I’m stuck with this one for now since I didn’t get an answer to my first question.

    Thx for your reply.

Not an expert response but I had the same problem and it was a result of plugins. I’m using Twenty Fourteen. Wordfence scans for dated plugins but I can’t delete some of them without crashing the site.
