Hi Friends – RE: Groups PayPal – Publish GPLv3 Open Source on GitHub

We have tried to contact your support and resolve this issue for one or two years. We never got a reply to our last attempt to contact your support team, so the only option we have is to reach out here. Since – Groups PayPal AddOn – is no longer a commercial product, then we will contact you here on this issue moving forward.

We built our entire platform on your – Groups PayPal AddOn – which you have now sunset, and longer support. ** All we need is for your staff to consider your past clients, and not leave us stranded, and simply please publish your – Groups PayPal AddOn – as an open source GPLv3 project onto GitHub so we can maintain it ourselves.

The last reply we got from your team was on 2022.03.11 when Kento said “Thanks for following up on that, we’re going to make the repository available as promised. I’d like to make sure that we have everything reviewed so we can release it under GPLv3, once we’ve done that, the repository will be available publicly.”SEE itTHINX ORIGINAL MESSAGE HERE

Please consider when folks build on your payment plugin, then you cancel the plugin, it leaves us in a very bad place. Please do not let your loyal clients down – it should be very easy for you to publish this onto open source GitHub ??

    thanks,

    Hi,

As I’ve already stated here: I’d like to make sure that we have everything reviewed so we can release it under GPLv3, once we’ve done that, the repository will be available publicly.

This still stands and will be made available when we’ve had a chance to do it.

Please note that you’re posting about a commercial product and this goes against the WordPress Forum Guidelines – see Do Not Post About Commercial Products, so I would advise to post any comments on our site instead.

    Cheers

Hi Friends – Thanks for your prompt reply ??

You said: “Please note that you’re posting about a commercial product and this goes against the WordPress Forum Guidelines – see Do Not Post About Commercial Products, so I would advise to post any comments on our site instead.”

We understand you no longer support or sell “Groups PayPal AddOn” – so that would mean this thread is no longer related to a commercial product, as you said above, this AddOn will soon be open source under GPLv3

Also, we tried many times to contact via your site, however your ticket system is extremely difficult to use. We are simply unable to use your ticket system, and our last attempt to submit a ticket never reached you.

This www.remarpro.com support thread should be valid for open source GPLv3 projects, and it is the only reliable way we have to contact your team.

As we have waited for 1 or 2 years on this ticket, we strive to practice patience, and support your great coding efforts. This is why we are a loyal long-term client of your free Groups plugin.

Since our entire platform was built on this “Groups PayPal Plugin AddOn” which itThinx now discontinued and no longer supports, you can understand our urgent need to maintain the code ourselves.

We realize you are busy, but do you have any ETA or general timeframe as to when you can release the open source “Groups PayPal AddOn” under GPLv3 on GitHub?

    thanks,
    Soft-Designs, Inc.

Thanks for following up with your thoughts. I certainly appreciate that you use Groups successfully for your project and even with the premium extension that we discontinued.

I’ve included a reference to this entry here, so if you find it difficult to follow up on our site, you can bookmark this one: https://www.itthinx.com/2022/10/24/wordpress-support-session-3/

As we’re still talking about a commercial product which has not been made available via www.remarpro.com, in terms of the community guidelines this isn’t the place to discuss it. Personally I have nothing against it, but we should stick to the guidelines.

Regarding your question for a potential ETA on a release, I can’t give you one at this time. What I can say is that we haven’t forgotten about it and will release it when possible. But please note that even then, it’s going to be a discontinued product, even when provided as a fully GPLv3 compliant version.
