Grouping ONLY gallery items in a post

    I’d like it set up so that individual images within a post are not grouped together in a slideshow, except for gallery images. So, if a post contains:

    Image A
    Image B
    Gallery image C1
    Gallery image C2
    Image D
    Gallery image E1
    Gallery image E2

    I want Images A, B and D to appear in the lightbox when each is clicked on, but separate from each other (e.g. no arrows to display image B when looking at image A in the lightbox). Meanwhile, I’d like the gallery images to be grouped together in their own separate, respective galleries (C1+C2; E1+E2, but without C2 leading into D or E1). Hope that makes sense!

    Is this possible? Am I doing something wrong? Right now, there seems to be no way to get this behavior. To group the gallery items together, it seems you HAVE to first enable “Group items (for displaying in a slideshow”. If this is disabled, but “Group gallery items separately” is checked, nothing happens — you can’t go from Image C1 to C2 in the lightbox – you can only see one image at a time, even if they belong to the same gallery.

    Hi, as you noted, the “Group items” option enables/disables grouping globally. When enabled, the other grouping options can be applied for further control over how items are separated into groups (for galleries, widget items, etc.).

    Therefore, when the “Group items” option is disabled, all grouping is disabled. Enabling grouping for gallery items only is currently not supported.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it. I was wondering – are you considering adding the ability to enable grouping for gallery items only? That would make the plugin perfect in my eyes! (The all-or-nothing grouping option feels a bit counterintuitive.) Thanks so much for all your hard work on this plugin.
