Group Parent – heirachy?

  • Can someone please give me a brief explanation of how the Parent option works when creating groups and how to work with them? I have been asked to see if we can replicate the following structure:

    Parent Group 1:
    —————
    – SubGroup 1
    – SubGroup 2
    – SubGroup 3
    – SubGroup 4

    Parent Group 2:
    —————
    – SubGroup 1
    – SubGroup 2
    – SubGroup 3
    – SubGroup 4

    Where the SubGroups of the parent are named the same.

    The outcome desired is to be able to identify members that are either currently paid up on their membership or have let their membership lapse. Only problem is I need to know what their membership level was, AND whether or not they are paid up or not. In my example above the Parents would indicate Paid or Not Paid.

    Any ideas?

    I am using Groups, Groups WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions
