• Hi, impressed by the plugin and possibilities I almost got it working. The files I share are invisible to other group members. I made a group, two folders and a file to share. The privacy setting of the file and folder is share with a group (selected the group name).
When I am logged in I can see the file. When I log in as a user I don’t see the file.
    What is the hickup?
    Thanks!

    Yes weird.

    No multisite.
    Buddypress 2.1.1
    Buddydrive 1.2.1

Use BuddyPress Activity Plus 1.6 also

When you select other option like public, files are showing ?

Thread Starter Leendert van der Ree

    (@lvdree)

No, just switched from group to public. No difference.
The file is in a folder. I see the public mark besides the folder (the eye)

and when a member opens it what happens ? Nothing ?
is there a anchor (#) added to the url, if so might be a javascript issue with another plugin.

the member sees nothing, just the header.
Doesn’t see the folder that holds the file also.

I don’t see an anchor in the url.
The only # i see is when I hover below the shared file (description, link, share)

Ok can you share a new file making sure it’s public to see if the member is seeing it.

New file, I can see it, any other visitor can’t. Do I miss something very obvious?

That’s amazing! A public file you shared in the BuddyDrive part of your profile can’t be seen by a logged in user viewing your profile !! A public file should be seen by any user (even not logged in)

Just tested to be sure : and as you can see at in the WP Admin bar in the image below, being not logged in does not avoid me to see public files.

    Not loggedin buddydrive

Yes I believe you and I see your screenshot. It’s just not happening with my files. Sorry

In my believe it is like this: if user A shared a file in a group all the users of the group could see the shared file in their own page/profile.
    Is this true?
For what I see now it is like this: user A shares a file in a group. All the users of the group can see that file at the page/profile of user A and not in their own page/profile.
    Or is this true?

    > Not really. Sharing in a group will make the file available in the BuddyDrive tab of the group for all group members and in the owner user’s profile. But not in each group members personal profiles.

They will need to go in the group to see the file.

ok, the problem is solved then. It was my point of view / expectation that made me think it didn’t work ?? But it does and it is good.
    Thank you.

The one thing I would like to do is make a menu that is only visible to logged in users so I can pin point to the folders/files for these users.

Thanks for your feedback. BuddyDrive should appear in the BuddyPress box in the WordPress Menu administration.
