    Hi Everyone

I started to do my own theme from the ground up.

I downloaded the index, page, style, and sidebar pages. I saved them in a new folder and then uploaded them (FTP) to my site. I see them in my wordpress dashboard.

So far I basically just changed some basic stuff like the background and text. When I update file it says file updated sucessfully. But when I preview the site, it’s still the default page.

Am I missing a glaringly obvious option to make sure it’s using my new folder/index/etc. for the site and not the default. any help is greatly appreciated.

you should also change the style.css. right at the first few lines of the style.css, you would see some commented area where it says the name of the theme, author name etc.

give your new theme a name, by editing the style.css top portion, and update it.

and then select a different theme and then come back to your own theme.

    lets see if it works.

I updated the styles.css page with anything that would be my name, design, etc. as opposed to the default. It still goes back to the default page though. This occurs even when I have my theme selected from the drop down menu.
