Gross and Net tax Issue

Thank you for reaching out! I understand that you’ve set your store to enter prices inclusive of tax (gross prices), and you want these gross prices to be displayed. However, it seems like the tax is being added on top of these gross prices, is that correct?

Can you please share with us a screenshot of the settings when you go to WooCommerce → Settings → Tax?

In the meantime, temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme, like Twenty-Twenty or switch to Storefront theme, and disable all plugins except WooCommerce to see if the issue persists. If it is resolved, you can reactivate your theme and plugins one by one to identify the source of the conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, we’ll wait for the screenshot, then kindly share a copy of your site’s System Status Report, too so that we can better understand your site’s current environment.

• System Status Report: navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.
• Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

I reviewed your first message, but I’m not sure if I got the full picture. Choosing “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax” means that all the prices in your store’s catalogue are entered using your store’s basic tax rate, which I can see is the case on your site.

Could you please share more details on what you’re trying to achieve?

Hello! I updated woocommerce, unfortunately the price is still wrong.

My problem is that while I didn’t have to rewrite anything with these settings on other websites, here the VAT is added to the price of the products. So you don’t subtract from it, you add to it.

For example:

• On another website: the price of the product was 10 euros until now, 10 euros remained even after the VAT settings, only 27% of that is written as VAT, so 2.7. Net = 8,3 €, Vat = 2,7 €. Its cool!
• Now, on the problematic website: the price of the product is also 10 euros in the “Woocommerce/products” menu (since we are talking about a migrated website) BUT here the price appears as 12.7 euros. So in the settings, I see the original price, which is good, but when I open the website, I see the value increased with VAT. Here he does not subtract from it, but adds to it.

I saw it as a basic solution to rewrite the price of my products, but I don’t want that, since it’s not a long-term sustainable solution, it’s just firefighting.

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
 
The best way to determine this is to:

• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

I use this theme and plugins for 6-12 months. This site is a migrated site… i migrated 2 times: 1 for a sample, and 1 for a foreign language. I just change the texts. The theme and the plugins are the same, nothing change, just the texts. But okay, i tried to turn-off the plugins, nothing happened.

So… whats now? Have I delete woocommerce and download again? My products are in safe, or delete too? I don’t want to create again my all products…

If conflict testing did not reveal anything there might still be a configuration issue. Please check the screenshots below on my test site – you will notice that I have set the price to $10 however, for the US where taxes are lower I pay $9.29 – which is exactly what you are looking for!

Deleting WooCommerce should not make a difference in this case. Please make sure you are on the latest version and that should do the trick. Otherwise, if you decide to delete WooCommerce and install it again the products will not be deleted but just in case I would highly suggest backing up the site!

Hello! I looked at the setup pictures, everything looks the same to me as it did to my original site. (From I migrated) I’ve updated all plugins to see if that’s causing the problem, unfortunately still no change.

Based on the attached pictures, I don’t understand how it is possible that you gave the gross price of the product as $10, yet it shows less in the online store? On the cart page, it says that the tax is 1.42 out of 9.29, which is US 18%, right? This is super! But why will the price of the product be 9.29 instead of 10?

I still can’t understand how it is that the migrated copy of the same web store, with the same extensions and settings, suddenly shows a different product price? This is weird to me…

On the other shop, if the gross price of the product is $10, it says that (HU) 27% tax, so the tax is 2.7. That’s it. The price of the product remains the same at 10. (We don’t use $, I just write it for example) Thats my aim, its work good!

However, at this problematic shop I enter 10 as the gross price, (SK) 21% tax, and it doesn’t say that the price is 10, the tax is 2.1 of that, but adds 2.1 to the original 10 , and displays the price as 12.1. Thats the problem.

I found two fixed solutions, but neither of them is good…

1. I change the price of all the products, which makes me inconsistent and a lot of extra work for me. So it’s a double whammy!
2. I change the setting to net instead of gross. Then it appears well, but because of this everything else goes wrong: delivery prices, cash on delivery. In this case, I should modify these…

So I feel that both cases are bad, a compromise, even though on several pages, with the same settings, everything is great. I don’t think deleting WoCommerce is a good solution either, I dismissed it. I don’t know what to do :/

Yes. I tried the theme, plugin tests, and only this settings the difference. Thats why is unbelievable… I hoped that my template was the cause of something “getting stuck”, unfortunately it wasn’t.

I can imagine your frustration at this point. To recap, what you’re trying to achieve is the following:

• You want to set the product price at $10, and during checkout, calculate the tax by deducting it from the product price. For example, if the tax rate is 20%, you would still charge the customer $10, but you would receive $8, with $2 being allocated to tax. Is my understanding correct?

Please note this is not the default behaviour of WooCommerce, even when you opt for “Yes, I will enter prices inclusive of tax.”

To achieve this, you can try the following filter within a plugin like Code Snippets.
