    Dear Everybody, ??

I would like to call for your kind help regarding a question that popped up during the configuration of Motif.

I would like to enable the Jetpack Portfolio module for our site but its blog style layout is not looking very nice for it. I would love to have a Grid layout for the Portfolio but so far I have no idea where and how to set it for that specific section of the site.

In case you have a suggestion, I would be more than happy to listen!

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

    Viktor

Hi Viktor – You might like to take a look at a theme that already has a portfolio template that you like, and then borrowing from that for a Motif child theme.* A few themes that have custom portfolio templates are Espied, Illustratr, and Sketch.

Files to look at – these are from Sketch – include:

    archive-jetpack-portfolio.php
    content-portfolio-single.php
    content-portfolio.php
    portfolio-page.php
    single-jetpack-portfolio.php
    taxonomy-jetpack-portfolio-tag.php
    taxonomy-jetpack-portfolio-type.php

… along with the associated CSS.

Hope that points you in the right direction!

    * The best way to make changes to a theme is to use a child theme, so your tweaks won’t be overwritten when updating the theme. Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:

    Dear Kathryn,

many thanks for taking care of my question, it is nice to have such a great support for the product that is fun to use anyway. ??

Thanks for the useful file list and the suggestion which seems like a good way to figure it out (I’ll give it a try soon).

There is one little bit that I shall specify a bit more in detail. Motif actually does feature a cool grid layout for its support of child (sub)pages. I’m also happy to adopt that for the Portfolio in case its easier than messing around with files originally designed for other themes.

    Kind regards,

    Viktor
