Grey map area when dragging/moving google map

Not sure when this started but I have just noticed today when dragging the map outside the initial loaded area its grey. I am using proper google APIs etc and have done a quick search about the problem and have come to this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11214651/google-maps-api-v3-gray-areas
