The plugin currently doesn’t support following groups at the moment. I’m guessing you’d want to follow groups because you are a member of too many groups and you want to filter down the list of groups that is relevant to you? If that is the case, for now, I would suggest leaving groups that you are no longer interested in.
v1.3 will offer the infrastructure to follow different types, but the code will need to be written to follow groups. v1.3 is slated to allow users to follow sites if you have multisite enabled on your WP install.
I’ll think about adding the ability to follow groups in a later version.
