• Like I suspect many others, I need to check our website for compatibility with WordPress 5/Gutenberg and our theme/plugins. For various reasons that are historical in nature, there are 3 copies of our website on 2 different servers. I found this plugin and installed it on one of the servers where it worked perfectly and I’m using it to do the first phase of checking. On the other, however, it failed to do the cloning by stalling while processing one of the database tables and eventually, after about 5 minutes, timing out and displaying a “Reset” button. Reading through the excellent WP Staging documentation, one of the suggestions was to increase the PHP memory limit to 256MB which I have done and it now works well on that site as well. I’m really pleased with the plugin because it makes my life so easy, but have docked 1 star as I feel it could have failed in a more helpful manner, perhaps by indicating why it stalled or giving some hints as to what the problem could be.

    Hello @cpcusteve

first of all, thank you very much for your review. Despite that, I am still a little bit disappointed about the docked 1 star but this is just due to my personal demanding on perfection:-)

I absolutely understand your valid concern.

So I promise you to work on a better error handling. In your case, it should be sufficient to integrate a memory check which warns you the next time when the PHP memory limit is too low.

So, thank you again for your valuable feedback and have a great holiday season.
    René
