• Saw that this plugin was recently updated and decided to give it a try. It works flawlessly and seems to be a better option than other similar plugins out there.

But, it is missing an important feature: the ability to set a featured image for the imported posts. Ideally, the imported post should upload the imported images locally (better for SEO and other reasons such as what if the syndicated site has hotlinked images blocked on their server?) then have the option to automatically set the featured image to either the first image in the post or a default image for that syndicated source.

Without this, creating an aggregated content page or site with this plugin will result in a text only site with no images other than the hotlinked images being displayed via html on each post page.

EDIT: Looks like this is doable after all! https://github.com/radgeek/FWP—SIC–Em

  • I agree! I tried another plugin and that one was even worse, so I’m going to return to FeedWordPress for that project. I didn’t find anything at the link @codings provided, so I’ll boost his post in hopes that the developers will follow through on this important feature.

@vesica Thanks for bumping this. It looks like WP is changing the format of the URL, so when I post it here, it doesn’t work.

Try https://github.com/radgeek look for FWP—SIC–Em (maybe it will work if I link it like this, if not, then find it from radgeek’s main page there).
