Great Plugin, Great CDN, Except Invisible Downtime Issues
-
This would be a 5 star review except for one extremely critical issue with unknown regional downtime from error 520 – origin server cannot be reached.
Update: +1 Star for Wade at least checking on this via Slack Channel Support Chat for us so we can get some confirmation that we are up and running at every PoP. Still waiting for a better solution, though.
Full Explanation:
I cannot get any support to address the issue with regional downtime. This is an absolutely critical issue that directly causes major losses, and the problem is we have no visibility of when it’s happening, but Support staff does.
This plugin is really one of the best ones for optimizing wordpress to run fast, and the caching+CDN combo is really fast (when it’s working). When it’s not working, the site is simply down for an entire region and doesn’t notify you that it’s happening.
If an individual CDN server in some region cannot reach the origin website server, there is no way to tell it’s happening, no way to be notified, and you simply run with unknown downtime for an entire region until by some chance you figure out you have huge losses in an area and ask them to check, then they tell you – “oh yeah, everything is fine, oh except one server cannot reach your website” – so it’s just down for millions of potential users and nobody seems to think this is important to notify you about it happening!?
I will gladly change my review to 5 stars when this is addressed to add visibility, warnings, or notifications so customers can know when this issue occurs and can respond accordingly. I’ve also reported this in the Slack support channel and nobody responded, and I’ve made a support thread on this here:

It’s a deal breaker that’s caused tens of thousands of dollars in losses for our company already, and we’ll be switching to a different solution soon if it’s not something that can be at least detected and notified when happening, so I really hope something can be done to give us visibility on the issue as I would much prefer to stay with our current setup and continue with Quic Cloud CDN for the great speeds it provides when it is working.
