    Hi!

    Thanks for the positive comment.

Perhaps surprisingly, you are only the second person to ever ask for the feature of saving to the media library. In order to avoid duplicating efforts, I would like to ask if you have searched for another plugin that will already save shortcode results to the media library? If one exists, then a combination of plugins is the better solution. You could automate the creation of WP-Portfolio shortcodes (somehow) to display a single listing (already supported, see documentation) and have the other plugin save it to the media library, one-by-one.

If you find/found nothing along those lines, I can do a search myself also and add this feature to the list of considered enhancements. If there is some decent demand or if a case can be built for a feature’s very strong value to the community, I will occasionally fund new features such as this. In 2016, I spent $40,000 on adding new features to WP-Portfolio for free, so let’s discuss. ??

    Cheers,

Thanks for the reply I am really only one step above the plug and play brigade and sometimes a little info can be dangerous! LOL Let me explain the end game that might help. I own a copy of sabai directory Brilliant little database. I want to be able to display an image of a website screen as an image in the record. For me to be able to do this i need to create thumbnail of website save as image upload to directory. If it was possible to have your plugin create a saved image in the media gallery that would save at least one step if not two. Apparently one cannot embed your shortcode in the html editor of the directory. I hope that makes some sense The other way which I am sure a lot worse would create extra fields in your portfolio???

Give me a few days to take a look at that directory script. Should only take a couple of hours to do a quick code review, but I’m very backlogged at the moment.

However, the next release of WP-Portfolio is imminent and contains several new features, one of which is the ability to create new, custom fields per listing. So that may be a last resort option for you.

However, I will also run a few searches to see if the multiple plugin idea will work. If not, then I’ll take a look at “how” media files are “saved”. If it’s just a matter of saving to the disk, in a specific location, where WP picks them up; then that’s fairly easy. If it involves the database and complicated entries, then we’ll just have to see.

Will update when I know more.

    Cheers,

    Hello,

Sorry for the extended delay. I do not have any news yet. When I realized this was a paid directory script, I put it on the back-burner for a few more days. Then, everything snowballed and moved very quickly on several urgent projects for the overall screenshot service. So, I’ve been in reaction mode since my last update.

If I get some time over the next month, I will buy the script and take a look.

    Best regards,

    Brandon

    @gnfb Hello again!

So sorry for the extended delay. After giving this more thought, I realized that you just want to show website screenshots in their directory area and storing those in the media library is not really advisable. They should either support my WP Website Screenshot shortcode or integrate with the service directly, using the sample STW API Library.

To that end, I approached the developers of the Sabai Directory, and they agreed that an integration with their software/plugin was best. They did not give a timeline but said that they would put it on the roadmap, basically, and would review my service’s API. Here is their exact reply:

    Hello,

Great, we do plan to integrate some screenshot services out there to generate thumbnails for websites listed in our directory plugin. We will also take a look at the STW API and consider integrating it with the later version of our plugin. Thank you for sharing the info!

    Regards,
    Kazu

Since this is something that they will handle, I will mark this ticket resolved. Feel free to reach out to me regarding integration of my service, but you may need to contact the directory author as well.

    Best regards,

    Brandon
