Hello, I tried your plugin and loved it, I mean, REALLY loved it, but when activated it causes a conflict with a plugin I use, Echo RSS Feed Post Generator Plugin for WordPress, in which the plugin stops working.

Here is the error log from that plugin:

I contacted the plugin support and was told the following:

    `Hello,

I checked your site and the issue is caused by the ‘Lumière! Movies’ plugin you have active on your site. This plugin uses an older version of the same library which my plugin also uses, which causes conflicts, as they seem to manage to load the library before my plugin runs. Because of this, my plugin is unable to work correctly when this plugin is also active.

To fix this, the only option is to deactivate the ‘Lumière! Movies’ plugin. You can also try to contact the support of this plugin and ask them to update the ‘Psr\Log\LoggerInterface’ module they are using in their plugin to the latest version`

Now, unfortunately, I have had to deactivate your plugin so the other one can work but I would REALLY like to use this plaugin.

Is there any chance of doing as CodeRevolution asks and update the ‘Psr\Log\LoggerInterface’ module

Any help would be much appreciated.

And sorry for my delayed reply, I wasn’t properly receiving notifications…

    No problem.

I have uninstalled the Echo RSS plugin but seem to be having an issue installing Lumiere.

keep in mind I am not using the self-install version of wordpress (www.remarpro.com), in which I found the plugin to work without issue but on wordpress.com (paid hosting)

It installs but when I use the search option, it says there has been a critical error.

    Help.

    Thnaks for the report.

Could you share the error message? Next Lumière release will address specifically an issue with the movie search.

    Sure, here’s what I get

Like I said, it worked great on self-hosted but has issues on wordpress.com/Automattic hosting

    (@max1138)

    Hey,

I contacted wordpress.com/Automattic support and got this response:

`We appreciate for sharing the plugin name and link. I have tested the plugin in WordPress.com business hosting and another hosting. The Lumiere Movies plugin throws some fatal PHP errors in both hosting environments.

I also tested it using various PHP versions to verify whether it has PHP 8.0 incompatible issue or not. Please note that I have used the default theme since your darknews-pro theme also throws a critical error, as mentioned in our previous reply.

I will suggest contacting the plugin developer and checking if they have any recent updates to the plugin or have any solution regarding this issue. If the plugin developer can resolve the PHP fatal error on the Cache.php files at line 41, the plugin will start working on WordPress.com hosting without any problems.`

Here’s the debug log for you to check:

    Hi Stephen,
1/ I can’t read the first error, the pic is of bad quality. But I guess it’s related to the error you mentionned in the second message.
2/ That Cache exception is thrown when no cache folder can be created. So you have two options: a/ deactivate the cache in Lumière cache options, which will make the queries very slow, having to run everytime a page with movie to be displayed, b/ edit the cache path in Lumière cache options. I guess the default wordpress path (wp-content/cache) can’t be created in wordpress.com platform. So edit the path to wp-content/lumiere-movies/cache. I suppose it should work, since you can install plugins. That folder is the default wordpress folder for plugins. The thing is that I have no understanding of wordpress.com platform, not utilising it myself.

Let me know if that works!

I tried option a with no success

Which file do I need to edit for b as I can’t find it in the admin options.?

    Thanks

I get this is debug when I disable cache in options:

I’ve been able to reproduce the issue.
I’m working on fixing it. I need to fix the cache folder creation (almost done) and see why the cache is still used when deactivated (working on it).
It may be quick if my plugin is the only gulty. It may take longer if the library I use is gulty as well. I’ll keep you updated.
Note: Sorry for asking you to change the cache folder. I forgot I set a more solid amd automatised way to deal with it a while ago.

I have infinite patience when it comes to this plugin. To have it working for my site is well worth the wait.

I updated the plugin to version 3.9. Please let me know if this solves your issue.

Due to changes in the plugin structure, please note there will be a fatal error when updating. This has no consequence on both your wordpress installation and plugin.

    (@max1138)

Okay, tried to activate it but can’t.

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

`Warning: touch(): Unable to create file /wordpress/core/6.0.1/wp-content/debug.log because No such file or directory in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/lumiere-movies/class/plugins/class-logger.php on line 175
