• I first tried the free version for few months but since I needed some of the pro features, I paid for the Pro version and support has been great.

I tried some other membership plugins and I find this one easy to use for basic functions and also they have a great and well designed (both visually and logistically) back end on the WP dashboard. If you have BP, they have a new BP integration add on which will make your life easier such as customized registration form that links up with BP profiles. The regular registration form without this integration does not allow for extra fields unless you manually change code and you still need separate xprofile fields plugin which is now almost defunct – the two I know of. So. This integration is necessary.

Some of the add on features might not be very easy to implement if you are not great or confident in coding, however they do offer support to install and set things up for you – in the Pro version – and you have access to a lot more add ons – so it all depends how much custom work you need – if you are ok with basic functions listed on the plugin page, then you might just be fine with Free version.

Overall, I am very happy with the plugin and service. There are some quirks or issues occasionally but they are happy to help and fix whatever is not working.

Note: You will need a great hosting for the site to work well using this plugin due to lots of scripts and backend “stuff” that goes on. I have recently moved to wpengine.com after having major performance issues on Web Hosting Hub, and the site works great now. They do recommend higher end VPS too, if you can afford it – the site will only chug along if you are on the basic cheap hosting but if you intend to have lots of users (and hopefully make money) then get great hosting.
