• seems to be the best image slider (for me).

    so overall 5 stars – but:

    ->media -> unattached

    the images used in meta slider are shown as “unattached”.
    thus it messes up my plan to clean up the image database.

    maybe you can fix that in the next version?`

  • Hi mmeinesz,

    Thanks for the review!

    Meta Slider did used to attach the slides to the slideshow using the ‘post_parent’ setup, but WordPress only allows for a 1:1 relationship between attached posts. That caused problems when people wanted to use the same image in multiple slideshows.

    Since then the way slides and slideshows are associated has been re-jigged to allow users to attach the same image to multiple slideshows (posts). Meta Slider now uses a hidden taxonomy to maintain the relationships.

    I would happily put something back in to show that the slides are attached to ‘something’, but it could be confusing if the slide is in fact associated with 2 or more slideshows.

    Regards,
    Tom.

    tom, thanks for that. not quite understand why indicating used images is a problem. i am not a programmer and just barely in the know of the wp data representation.
    however I want to point out, that the Meta Slider and the tab “unattached” don’t do well together. If you can fix it – great. otherwise- set a warning msg. or something, that points out the error in the right context.

    Hi mmeinesz,

    The problem is in WordPress, when you click the Media tab, the attachments you see there are limited to having a single parent post.

    If an attachment (ie, slide) has more than one parent post (ie, it’s been included in more than one slideshow), then you will never be able to see the fact that it has 2 ‘parent posts’ on the Media Page – WordPress only lets you show one in there.

    Regards,
    Tom.
