    Hello

We are using Gravity forms to publish some data and each datapoint has a .pdf upload. We then display this data on a front end page using Gravity view plugin. There is only one user who access the gravity form used for file uploading, because the form is hidden behind a basic “enter password” function of WordPress. The user who uploads the pdf is not subscribed/logged in to WordPress dashboard (for various reasons which I don’t want to get into if possible). We have been using Wordfence since mid-2018 and this way was working flawlessly until recently, when Wordfence started blocking this user from uploading. I tried switching Wordfence into learning mode as the user was uploading the .pdf file but it didn’t work. I have no issues uploading the data and .pdf file when I’m logged in as site administrator. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi @mhutera85,

It definitely sounds on the face of it like Learning Mode should’ve helped when you tried it, however, are they receiving the Wordfence branded block page? Sometimes if a firewall on your host is getting there first they might see a more generic page from the server.

If they are seeing the Wordfence blocking page, it could be worth checking if their IP appears in Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking, you can manually unblock their IP from here to allow them access to the site again. If this block pre-dates the Learning Mode test it might be worth trying again. In many cases though, these blocks will have already been lifted automatically after a period of time.

If they aren’t seeing the Wordfence page, double-check the PHP and server timeout settings, along with php.ini’s upload_max_filesize, post_max_size and max_file_uploads, as the problem could be related to settings outside of Wordfence’s control: https://www.tecmint.com/increase-file-upload-size-in-php/

Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hello Peter

Thanks for the instructions. I switched Wordfence to learning mode again, waited a while and then instructed them to try and upload the file and this time it worked. We’ll continue to monitor the situation if it happens again or not. Earlier, I switched it to learning mode and immediately after that I instructed them to upload the file.

Yes, they were getting the Wordfence blocking screen, not a generic error page. I also checked the blocked IP address list, but there were no IP addresses there to unblock.

    Thanks

    Sincerely

    Milan
