• Someone’s just recommended Gravatars2 to me. But I’m having trouble figuring out which directories to upload the files to. My blog’s root director is ‘tikun_olam.’

I’ve installed the files to the directories as best as I could follow the directions. I activated the 2 plugins. But when I went to Options->Gravatars, I saw this msg:
    “/home/richard2/domains/richardsilverstein.com/public_html/tikun_olam/wp-content/gravatars/global
is not writable.” I know for a fact that the Global directory IS writable as I CHMODed it myself. So I’m guessing that I don’t have the Global directory & perhaps other files/folders in the right place.

I’d be grateful if someone might look over what I’ve done & tell me where I went wrong:

    1. gravatars2-cache-refresh.php file is in tikun_olam (i.e. root) directory
    2. gravatars folder (containing Global & Local folders) is in wp-content directory
    3. gravatars2-wpcron.php & gravatars2.php in plugins directory

And finally, installation instructions suggest you extract the zip file directly to the root directory where the files/folders will automatically place themselves in the proper directories. I usually extract my files locally (using Winzip) to my Desktop folder & then upload fr. there to the server. It would’ve been wonderful if I could’ve extracted direct to my root directory & avoided the mess I’ve gotten myself into. How does one extract a zip file directly to one’s root directory?

I’ve resolved the CHMOD issues. But others still remain. I’ve tried to follow the author’s instructions about installing code in the css stylesheet & comments.php files. I’ve also tried to add the correct path to my personal gravatar file. I’ve also deactivated the Gravatar.com plugin which I used to use.

But when I look at existing/old comments of mine, there’s no gravatar displaying. So I’m at a loss what could be wrong.
