I have a strange issue for which I hope I can get some ideas on how to proceed. I have set up a chart and included it on a page. When the page is displayed, the caption of the chart is displayed, but not the chart itself. When I open the developer tools (console, network, etc.) to view in more detail what is happening (in other words, by pressing F12), the chart is immediately displayed. There are no errors in the console. This behavior occurs in both Chrome and Firefox.

In the back end, the chart is displayed immediately upon clicking Edit for the chart.

Env: Plugin ver 3.1.9; WP ver 5.8; browser vers: latest.

Sounds like something in your theme or another plugin is causing a conflict with WPBI Lite. Unfortunately it will take some testing to figure out what it is.

First I would try setting your theme to one of the default themes when you are a low usage rate. Then see if the chart has this problem. If it does not, then the issue is with your theme and the theme developer might be able to figure it out.

I was able to determine that the problem occurs when the shortcode is included within a tab of an Elementor Tab widget. When the shortcode is included in an Elementor page without the Tab widget, the problem does not occur.

While I first noted the problem when opening the Chrome developer tools panel to investigate, in fact, other keyboard input can also trigger display of the chart when it is not displayed automatically. In addition, to pressing F12, F11 also triggers the display of the chart.

Furthermore, suppose the Developer Tools panel in Chrome is already opened before the page with the shortcode is loaded. In this case, the chart is not displayed automatically. However, when the Developers Tools panel is closed (by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the panel), then the chart is displayed. Perhaps other keyboard events can trigger the display of the chart, but I have not found them.

I suppose there is some conflict in some event handling scripts, but one way or another, something will have to change either in Elementor, in WP Business Intelligence, or both, if this is to work properly.

I tested with other plugins disabled and with a different theme; none of these appear to be part of the problem.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for doing that research and finding more information about the issue you’re experiencing.

Unfortunately this looks like it is an issue with Elementor and is likely a bug in their tab widget, we cannot control what their dev team does. I would report it on thier forums to see if they can find a solution for you or push a bug fix.

If we can replicate the issue we will add it to our Known Issues page to help others and examine any possible workarounds. However, from reading your description of the issue it is highly unlikely we will be able to do anything about it as our plugin and shortcode are working as intended except when used in one specific Elementor widget which means there is likely a bug on their end.

Apologies you’re having this problem, hopefully Elementor can get a fix for you!

I have reported the bug to Elementor https://github.com/elementor/elementor/issues/15989

I will report here any updates I get from the Elementor side, and hope that you will also post any additional thoughts you might have about what is causing the issue or, perhaps, a way to work around the issue.

Thank you for that. We will get a test with Elementor slated and see if there is anything we can discover to work around it. If the Elementor team wants to work directly with us on this please have them message us through our website here: https://www.wpbusinessintelligence.com/contact/

Appreciate the issue report and the help in getting it resolved!
