Grant users access to enroll in different groups?

Hi,

Just wondered if there was a way I could grant users/subscribers the ability to change their groups in their Profile settings, so far only the admin has permission to do this but I would also like to grant the User access to do this.

I am creating an intranet with location specific content, we are importing over 900 users but would like them to define the group they are in themselves.

I don’t mind jumping into the plugin, but I’ll need a walkthrough so I don’t mess it up.
