GPL question

  • Hi all,

    I’ve noticed that WordPress.com and other sites using WordPress are not releasing the source to their modifications of WordPress. I was wondering if this was still valid under the GPL.

    I ask since I have an idea for a new service that uses WordPress. I would like to know beforehand if releasing the source to my modifications is required.

  • WordPress.com and other similar sites are using WordPress MU > http: mu.www.remarpro.com

    If you just use your modifications – then you are not required to “release” your changes. If you distribute or sell WP with your modifications – you have to release the source.
