• Dear Support,

After install Plugin all function are running well, But, when I try to Active Network Brute force protection I just got and Error below:

An unknown error prevented the API key request from succeeding. The request for an API key returned an unrecognized response. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

    How to solve this problem?

    Best regards,
    U.

  • I have the same Problem!

    Same problem.

    Same Problem. :/

    Same…

Keep trying. It will work eventually … with a bit of luck;-)

There are 2 requests send to the ipcheck-api.ithemes.com server.
The first request is for generating your api key.
The second request is for activating your api key.

If either one fails your api key request is aborted and an error is displayed.

The error posted by the topic creator indicates the request for generating the api key failed.

A slightly different error is displayed when the request for activating the api key fails:

An unknown error prevented the API key secret request from succeeding. The request for an API key secret returned an unrecognized response. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

Tracing revealed a 500 Internal Server Error on the ipcheck-api.ithemes.com server causes the failure.

Nothing we can do about it. Just keep trying and fingers crossed.

    Hi Everyone,

We’re investigating the issue and if you get an error when signing up, please wait a few minutes and try again.

    Thanks!
    Michael

    same

    Hi Everyone,

We have resolved the API error, my apologies for the inconvenience.

    Thanks!
    Michael

Still got this error. Could it be because I’m accessing through AWS CloudFront cache proxy, always a MISS ofc in /wp-admin context.

I am having the same issues
“An unknown error prevented the API key request from succeeding. The request for an API key returned an unrecognized response. Please wait a few minutes and try again.”

same problem with me now, using latest version.

I also have this error, version 7.2.0

cURL error 7: Failed to connect to ipcheck-api.ithemes.com port 80: Connection timed out

The settings could not be saved. Please correct the error above and try again.

It could be a firewall issue.

Are you able to update plugins/themes ?
