Googlebot-Image troubles

    Theme – child theme of twenty fourteen

    I found a report of this problem named Google bot getting crazy from tsf999. The issue is marked resolved, but it seemed to die out rather than reach a resolution so I’m still hoping for help.

    Photo Gallery is working perfectly on front end.

    I use the Redirection plugin because of some page renaming. I see in the Redirection plugin’s 404 log that Googlebot-Image/1.0 is cycling endlessly through file names that are currently in my Photo Gallery, but Googlebot is looking for them in the root directory. Frequency over last 2 days was 2 times per hour average so not a damaging situation but bothersome. They are always aimed at the thumb directory. Here is an example of a failing URL:

    Any ideas for me?
