My Google Site Kit plugin suddenly pop-up this message:
“Unknown Error (code: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: sitekit.withgoogle.com). To fix this, redo the plugin setup.”

When I redo the plugin setup it shows:
“Congratulations, the Site Kit plugin is now activated.
Your site may not be ready for Site Kit
Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services.
To get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message:
    google_api_connection_fail”

May I know what should I do?

  • Hello @buyfengshui ,

Thanks for opening a support topic.

Based on the error google_api_connection_fail it seems like there is something restricting Site Kit setup on your site, possibly at host level. To troubleshoot this can you please share the following information:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred. Please include your current hosting provider where requested.
    2. Have you been able to setup Site Kit successfully on any other site with the same hosting provider?

    Best Regards,

    Hello @buyfengshui ,

We have received Site Health information.

By inspecting your Site Health information it seems there are some sort of WAF(Web Application Firewall) rules or any security measures applied.

Just to make sure its not the plugin or theme’s conflict, can you please apply basic troubleshooting steps:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

In the meantime you can check with your host provider to make sure plugin is able to communicate to https://sitekit.withgoogle.com. This can be checked with wp-cli using the following command:

    wp eval 'print_r(wp_remote_head("https://sitekit.withgoogle.com"));

You’ll find more details on this in this GitHub issue, or by reviewing another users experience in this support topic.

Let us know if you are still struggling to setup Site Kit.
