    Hi,

You can find more info about each bot in our site:
    https://stopbadbots.com/
    Page: Bots table.
    You can find:
    iP number and user agent.

if You want disable it, you can go to bots table and do that.

    Cheers,
    Bill

    Hi!

There is no information about this in the bot table.

I was wondering if this bot was what it sounds like. Is this blocking youtube links to my website?

I found this info in our site:
    ip: 66.249.92.83
    user Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Google-Youtube-Links)
I suggest to you check if this ip (66.249.92.83) is linked to google servers. If yes, try to find some information about this bot in google site. I have no idea about the mission this bot.

I checked IP and it is linked to GOOGLE servers! You are blocking Google!

I am disappointed to find you are blocking things which when asked about you don’t know what they do!

This is not googlebot. I mean, the google bot to index sites.
Google have a lot of bots. To get shopping data, adsense data, adwords data, youtube stuff and so on.
It is up to you if you want left google keep all info they want.

Just go to our bots table and make a search google. Then, disable all if you want.
I don’t know all bots. Every day show up dozens of new bots. Nobody know all bots and all they do.

In our startup guide, i said:
    Check the bot’s table frequently…
… StopBadBots it is a powerfull tool. Then, like all powerfull tools it is necessary to use carefully….
… Confirm if you want block all that bots…

You can also disable the option to receive updates.

Anyway, you are free to disable all bots and check your site log of visits and block only the bots are abusing of your site.

How use our plugin is up to you.

I am aware you can disable bots, and to check the tablet frequently. I do this.

But i guess the point i’m making is the name of this plugin is “Stop Bad Bots” so i would expect only harmful bots to be blocked. But it seems like non harmful bots are blocked also. but i suppose it depends on whether you want these bots accessing your site or not.

I agree, this is a very powerful tool! But safe bots such as google shouldn’t be included in the block list i think.

I also looked up twitterbot and facebookbot/Facebook external hit but there wasn’t much information about them which i could determine from the whoisup lookup.

Could you tell me, are these bots genuine twitter/facebook offical bots?

I wasn’t sure if such bots are fake bots?

The bad guys frequently use fake names. Names like google, facebook, bing and so on.
You need go to our bots page and find the bot. Then, find the ip and follow the ip address and try to know the name server and the server location. By hand.

how do you decide what bots to include in the table? Where do they come from?

We have servers with around 400 managed sites. We have filters installed in this servers to catch bots. Since 2009 we are building this database.
We want real users reading ours sites, not machines stealing information and spending bandwidth.
You can manage the bots table and activate or deactivate each bot. It is up to you. We are working to release more information about each bot. (name server and country). I hope release more info in around one week. We have also, in WordPress repository, plugins to report brute force attacks and protect against hackers attack. All them free to help people.
