• I have copied the google html link. Then the instruction is

“Upload the file to your webserver to the location we specify.
Generally, this is the root folder for your site.”

Where is the root folder, how do I do this on www.remarpro.com??

then it says. “Once you have uploaded the file and can open it, click Verify. We will verify that the file exists in the specified location. If we can’t access the file, we’ll give you information about the error we encountered. Once this problem is resolved, try to verify your site again.” So i presume I paste the whole thing into the browser and it shows me ??????? what?????

Thanks in advance for your help

They gave you a file. Upload that file to your own website via FTP or whatever method you used to upload WordPress to the site.

They told me to create my own file.

“Using any text editor, create the file that we ask for and make sure to save it with the exact name we ask for (for example, google11e5844324b7354e.html). The filename is case-sensitive and must have an “.html” extension.”

I used notepad and called the file with the google name they gave me ending in .html. I wasnt sure where to upload it so I put it into /public_html/goodbyepanicattacks.com/wordpress-2.8/wordpress/ then I added the file name that google gave me to the /public_html/goodbyepanicattacks.com/wordpress-2.8/wordpress/ and put it in my browser. I got a hostgator 404 page.

    What am I doing wrong?

Generally, in Linux, root folder is public_html directory. But just confirm this with your host. Also, you should be able to access this file as (for example)

    domain.com/google11e5844324b7354e.html

This file has nothing to do with WordPress. You’d put it into the public_html/goodbyepanicattacks.com folder only.
