google webmaster tools

  • i downloaded and installed the google webmaster tools plugin and from there i got a little lost. google was asking me upload a file for verification but it did not tell me where to upload it and i also noticed that before i asked this question and the plugin was activated my website had a message at the top for everyone to see that said “paste your google verification here” so i deactivated it until i get help. thanks

    ok so i was able to figure out where to upload the verification document. i deleted the plug in because i was getting frustrated with the text it placed on the top of my website so my new question is, if i have the verification document uploaded and i have a webmaster account set up with google and i am currently going through the motions do i still need the plugin?
