Not sure if this is an issue with Simple Links or a problem with my sites Google Crawling settings, but when I go into Google Webmasters Tools for my site, I noticed that there are quite a few “Not Found” “Crawl Errors” related to Simple Links.
Most of the ones listed say something like:
    ?Simple_Link=linkname1
    ?Simple_Link=linkname2
    etc.

Where the “linkname” is the name of the simple link entries that I created.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Any idea what could be causing this?

    Thanks.

Are you generating a sitemap for your site?
If so, I would start there. There is something generating urls or sitemaps to tell google to crawl non existing locations.

Simple Links is not a public post type so there should not be any native urls which could be crawled. In fact the post type is registered as simple_link instead of Simple_Link which means whatever is telling Google to crawl these links is not using proper url parameters.

Yes… I use “XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 4.0.7.1” for generating an XML sitemap for my site.

Let me check that plugins settings and maybe try to regenerate the site maps and see if that helps.

Also, I can go into webmasters and try to dismiss the errors and then see if it happens again next time it gets crawled.

    Thanks.
