• Hey guys,

    Okay, Ive been working on this problem for over an hour so Im hoping someone can help me out. I know there’s other questions on this forum related to this but haven’t been able to find an answer for my specific situation.

    First off, here’s the site: https://www.dontforgettomove.com

    I’m trying to set my website up on google verification to use Google Webmaster Tools so I used the HTML meta tag and pasted it into my header. Then a thing popped up on my site that said “paste your google verification code here.”

    So I deleted the code to make that text go away. But the text is still there! Is it possible I missed part of it? The beginning of my header in the Editor reads like this:

    <head>
        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="<?php bloginfo('html_type'); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" />
        <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1">
    	<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />

    Also, since I deleted that portion will I still be verified? Google Webmaster says I’m verified at the moment and I can see the data but will they de-verify me because the tag is gone?

    And, since I’m at it, I’m trying to create a sitemap for my site and when I tried to access it in the plugin, it says I already have a sitemap. Does every site come automatically with one? When I try to sign in at the bottom of the plugin to my Google account, it says my login info is wrong. But Im 100% sure thats my login & pw.

    Okay, hope this wasn’t too many questions. If anyone can help with any of them, it would be much appreciated! Stumbling through this stuff is like learning to read again.

    Thanks!

    Also, sorry that whole thing turned into a link. Not sure how that happened! Yes, I am a wordpress newbie

    It looks like the popup (Paste your Google Webmaster Tools verification code here) is output by Google Webmaster Tools plugin that you may be using. You can insert the verification code just where the space is provided for by the plugin or insert it just below <head>. If the code is absent, Google will show your account as unverified in your Webmaster tools account.

    Hey Krishna,
    Thanks so much for getting back to me. I don’t believe I’ve installed that plugin. I just went on the Webmaster website to get the verification code then added it into the header. Ive recently signed in Google Webmaster Tools and my site is still there on my page so I assume its still verified. Does it just need a bit of time to catch up and de-verify? And I’m not sure why its still in the header if I removed the meta code. So confused!

    Thanks!
    Christine

    Okay, update- I deactivated the Google Webmaster Tools plugin and the popup disappeared. GWT says my site is still verified so I’m wondering if its just a matter of time until they deactivate it? In which case I’ll try this process again.

    Either wait for the next message from Google WMT or resubmit your site map so that you can know the results faster.
