    I’m not clear on how to use the Google Verification Code in the plugin. I see an HTML version, an HTML tag, and Google Tag Manager. Which I do use in the box on the plugin?

    Hello!

    Thank you for the kind review earlier ??

    To verify your website with Google, you can use various methods. TSF provides just one of them: the HTML tag.

    The HTML tag looks a bit like this:

    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="ab1cDe2Fg3HI4Jklm5nOpqRSt67UVW78XYzAbcdEfgH" />

    If Google gave you this tag, you can just paste it in The SEO Framework’s Webmaster Meta Settings’ input field, and TSF will automatically grab the “content” part.

    After saving, if you look at the source of your website, you should see the entire tag with the content filled back in.

    Still, I recommend using the DNS method to verify your ownership of the domain. The DNS method keeps working even if your site is unreachable. You may need to consult with your hosting provider to install this.

    Google Tag Manager is an advanced analytics product; it allows you to send tag-based events to Google to learn how users behave on your website. This also requires you to verify your ownership of the domain, but it comes with additional setup to register those events. I don’t recommend engaging with Google Tag Manager unless you actively want to develop a custom tracking system for your visitors; it’s a powerful, but specialized tool.

    Via our Cord extesion, we provide basic analytics for Google Analytics 4 (which uses Google Tags as a backbone), via a Measurement ID.

    thanks. Does this go in the google box where the boxes are listed like Google, Bing etc?

    Yes, those input fields are inside the Webmaster Meta Settings box.

    Me again. Does the google html code have .html on the end of it? Do I include that in the box on the SEO Framwork Plugin?

    Also I found my verification codes once but I can’t find them again. Do you know how to find them? I am in a circle, only seeing either instructions for how to verify or getting to the page that says I am already verified. Can’t find the actual code. Thanks.

    Hi again!

    You can find all the information about verifying your domain ownership with Google Search Console here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080.

    If you wish to use The SEO Framework to verify ownership, you’d need to use the HTML tag. The tag they’ll give you looks like this and you just need to fill in the “content” part with The SEO Framework — but TSF can take that part out for you if you paste it in whole:

    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="ab1cDe2Fg3HI4Jklm5nOpqRSt67UVW78XYzAbcdEfgH" />

    If Google gave you a .html file, then you’re using the HTML file upload method, which would need to be uploaded to the root folder of your website. You may want to consult with your hosting provider about implementing this method.

    You can also use the Domain Name Provider method, which is the one I recommended earlier, but you may also want to consult with your hosting provider for this one. It’s the most robust and needs only be configured once for complete verification.
