Hello, we have discovered in the past few days that Google is no longer able to access our feed, giving the error message, ‘Failed to connect to the remote server. Please make sure that the source URL in your feed configuration is a valid one.’ We have checked our server and there are no error logs, so our host has requested we reach out to the feed plugin provider for assistance. The feed worked fine up until Friday evening/Saturday morning, but now cannot be accessed.

The debug log can be found at: https://www.akkin.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/woo-product-feed-pro/logs/debug.log

Can anyone provide any assistance, as this is now preventing us from advertising via Google Ads?

    Many thanks,
    Karl.

  • Hi Karl,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. When we open your feed URL in our browser it opens just fine however when we try to upload your feed into our test merchant center we get the exact same notification as you.

We don’t think this is related to our plugin or the feed itself. Are you perhaps in some way blocking Google from retrieving the feed? (Firewall or security plugins and settings)

Hello, I have asked out hosting provider to check our security and firewalls to make sure nothing is blocking Google, but they have told me that there is nothing. Are there any logs that you have access to that might indicate where the issue lies?

    Many thanks,
    Karl

Hello again, after some more investigating I have found that deactivating our Cloudflare account seems to have fixed the issue and Google Merchant Centre can now access the XML file. I have asked our hosting provider if they are able to amend the Cloudflare settings to prevent this from happening, but if not then we’ll just have to stop using Cloudflare.

    Many thanks,
    Karl

    Hi Karl,

Thanks for the heads-up and good to hear your XML is working again. Should your hosting provider come back with an answer on your Cloudflare setting question would you then be so kind as to share that solution here so it can be of use to other users too?

    Hi,

Assuming the issue at hand has been resolved and/or our support is no longer required I am going to close this issue for housekeeping reasons now.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us again whenever you need our help.
