I am currently using gtag through my google analytics but want to switch over to google tag manager. My google tag manager is not set up on beehive. If I began a GTM account and connected it on beehive, will I be duplicating my data? How do I know if the gtag is no longer how events are being tracked through?

    Hi @kelsiehall,

I hope you are doing well today!

If you have already integrated Google Analytics with your Google Tag Manager account, you do not need to connect Analytics to Beehive; you can use only the Tag Manager container which will handle that for you.
Please check below docs for more information

I have not set up GTM yet and only have gtag.js running. I want to set up GTM, but do not want to duplicate any data. I don’t think your answer addressed my question properly.

    Hi again @kelsiehall,

Please elaborate the query a little bit more as you have gtag.js running and added by another plugin or you added manually to the page? If so it is better to remove it, and as I explained above if you have already integrated Google Analytics with your Google Tag Manager account, you do not need to connect Analytics to Beehive; you can use only the Tag Manager container.

    Kind regards,

Sorry for the late response. So if I have my GTM account set up with a configuration tag to my GA4 property, I do not need to put my GA4 measurement ID in the “Google Analytics” “Account” Section?

Meaning, everything will be tracked through the GTM instead?

    Hi @kelsiehall

I hope you are doing well.

    Those are different features:

If you added the tag in GTM and confirm it is tracking you don’t need to add the tag again in Beehive, but as Beehive connects to the API and brings the result from Google to the plugin dashboard I would remove the tracking code from GTM and use the regular connection method and then use GTM to extra tags or actions.

    Best Regards
