Google Tag Manager – GA4

  • Hi, this is not pertaining to the functionality of your plugin (which works great) at all really, I am hoping to get some direction regarding tracking the start/stop and playing percentage of Youtube video contained inside one of your plugin popups using Google Tag Manager and the new GA4.

    Unfortunately the default GA4 video tracking doesn’t seem to work with popups and the GTM configuration option also don’t trigger the default tracking. I’ve worked through s few walkthroughs (https://www.analyticsmania.com/post/track-videos-with-google-analytics-4-and-google-tag-manager/)

    Does your popup use the YouTube JS API? I am at the conclusion that something custom (JavaScript) need to be written in order to track the video in the popup. Do you have any pointers regarding this?

    I’m afraid I don’t have any experience with that. Let’s keep this issue open though, maybe someone else has an idea on this.
