    Hello,

Can I track with Google Analytics if I have it deployed only via Google Tag Manager (GTM)?

In other words, the Google Analytics ID or code will not be found on the footer of the site, but will be served through the GTM code.

    Hopefully!

If not, can this be an enhancement, as the direction is away from pure GA coding but using GTM for better site stability and more fluid tracking over time.

    Kind regards,
    Mike

You need the new Google Universal Tracking code for Google Analytics to work.
If you have another method that makes the ga function (found in analytics.js) available to track events then that *may* work too but is not tested.

    Thank you Aman.

Does the system need to literally see/find the GA UA Tracking code sitting on the page as hardcode … or, is it more about the code being fired? If the latter, then I think it should work … but if not, then it sounds it may not?

    Many thanks and kind regards,
    Mike

No, it just needs the ga function. How you make that available is up to you. Ofcourse traditionally that’s done with the GA Tracking code (almost) everyone uses.

Why don’t you just try it?

Will do, and will let you know.
