• The “change frequencies” and “priorities” options for the sitemap plugin don’t seem to account for blogs that use a static page as the home page.

IT is assuming that your home page is your blog page and changes frequently. It weights it accordingly as to change frequency and priority. There is no entry for the blog page if it is not your home page.

Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to set these two sets of options when you are using a static page as your home page? Or should we not use this plugin if our home page is not the blog page?

Since I posted this question a few days ago, I have talked to a few people that have told me that you should not use this plugin if you use a static page as your home page and have a separate blog page. Can this be correct? It seems like there must be a workaround for sites that have static home pages, but I can’t find this discussed in any other threads here.

Now I am told that indeed this is a known issue with the Google sitemap generator. The thought is that there is no point trying to work around it since WordPress 2.7 supposedly will have sitemap capability built in and the WordPress developers will have hopefully taken static home pages into account.

I have contacted the plugin author regarding this issue – hopefully he willhave an answer. (I sent him the link to this topic).

Thanks – I felt certain that this was something I just did not understand with the options, but several people have told me that they had deduced or read about the same thing. We will see what the author thinks.

Has anybody figured out a solution to this?

I currently have 2 different Google search results for my site.

First is WordPress blog page: https://themarkpike.com/blog

And then there’s another entry for: https://themarkpike.com

I’d prefer it if the sitemap generator were able to communicate with search results to condense this into one result (the static homepage) when you search for my name.
