    Hello,
    On 12/4 I activated Rank Math on one website to test, how it stand against Yoast. I am still in testing phase before move across other websites, but what I notices is sudden drop in google Sitelinks Searchbox shown in Google Search Console.

    Then normally got approx. 132 items on my website, after activating your plugin everyday I see further drop (screenshot).

    I follow this ticket and can confirm that SeatchAction is visible in my website source, however why is dropping in Google Search console? Looks like Yoast do one more step in this that is possible missing in Rank Math. Any suggestions?

    ps. Rich Results Test showing that everything is correct (Page is eligible for rich results).

    I tried to index my search page /?s=query into google search console and result I have stating: Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag. Question, why Rank Math put noindex to search results and how to change it?

    Source of the page with search query also got:
    <meta name=robots content="follow, noindex">

    Found solution in
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=rank-math-options-titles#setting-panel-misc

    where Noindex Search Results was set to On. Not sure if thats default or been incorrectly imported from Yoast settings, but shall be Off by default.

  • Plugin Author Rank Math

    Hello @idarek

    Thank you for getting in touch with us.

    Rank Math adds the Sitelinks search box only to the homepage. We are aware some SEO plugins add it to the entire website but that is not the correct way to do it.

    It only needs to be present on the homepage as per Google:
    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/sitelinks-searchbox#guidelines

    Screenshot: https://i.rankmath.com/Un6GF3

    Also, the search pages should be set to NoIndex and thath’s why the default option in the Rank Math plugin. Search pages do not contribute to unique pages with content and could lead to a penalty by Google.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
