    Hi

I setup Google Site kit and connected it with Google Analytics on the 15th and it is not currently showing new visitors to the site. Everything is connected, but I had problems for whatever reason to setup Tag Manager which I set up today.

A newsletter was sent out on the 16th (two days ago) and it would be nice to be able to see the result of that in relation to visitors to the site.

    Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out @paaljoachim. Certainly it would be nice to know what visitors came to your site from your newsletter. ?I checked your site both manually and using the tagassistant.google.com service. From doing so I can see that site visits are recording my own visit, however, I suspect some users may not be granting consent when visiting your site, meaning they won’t register in Analytics. From reviewing your consent defaults, users are not tracked until explicitly consenting. You may wish to review your consent management plugin configurations and you consent mode configurations within Site Kit if this is not as intended. Please note that as per DMA policy visitors from some regions should explicitly grant consent before they are counted in Analytics. You’ll find more on this by visiting the consent mode guide on the plugin website, as I can see that you have consent mode enabled.

So to summarize, Analytics visits are firing, although the default in my case from my location, is to not track my own visit.

I’m happy to check your Site Kit set up if you wish, or investigate this further if you’d like to share your Site Health information using this form. If you wish for me to do so, please share whether you see some visitors since the 15th, or is the number of visitors since the 15th at zero. I suspect there are some visitors, but maybe less than expected given your consent mode and consent management plugin configuration. Some users may not grant consent when visiting your site.

    Hi @jamesosborne

Consent mode was on and I turned it off. It seems that all data was reset back to 0.
I filled out the form you linked to.

    Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the update @paaljoachim. Data doesn’t reset with any consent mode changes, with Site Kit pulling data from a users Google Analytics account. What you see within the Site Kit dashboard reflects closely what you see from viewing the same reporting periods from analytics.google.com.

I also checked your site and I can confirm that Analytics visits are firing without any consent mechanism or cookie policy banner in place. If you’re finding the Analytics data you see isn’t as expected, please click on the ”Source: Analytics” link within the Site Kit dashboard and share whether you see any recent data from the Analytics directly. Feel free to share a screenshot or recording of what you see if you wish. You can use a service such as Loom to share a screen recording, while using the same form previously used to share this privately.?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you!

    Hi

“If you’re finding the Analytics data you see isn’t as expected, please click on the ”Source: Analytics” link within the Site Kit dashboard and share whether you see any recent data from the Analytics directly.”

I see no recent data at all from Analytics.
I made a video just to make it clear.

Many thanks for sharing the recording @paaljoachim. Based on what I can see, Site Kit is working as expected, as it’s displaying the same figures as appears from analytics.google.com. While the numbers are low this may be due to you only connecting the site recently, or connecting with a different property to what was connected before Site Kit.

I also checked your site using tagasssistant.google.com once more, and my site visits are recording at present. As the Analytics reporting API which Site Kit uses only shows data up until the previous day, I’m happy to check in with you tomorrow to ensure the stats are adding up. You mention in the video you had Google Analytics turned on since 17th, however, given consent mode was enabled until yesterday without a mechanism to grant consent, it’s normal that you will have lost traffic to your site from that time.

Let me know if that suits. I do expect data will start to appear from tomorrow.

I’m just following up with you to check whether you are seeing Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboard now it’s been a few days?
