I have already added the Meta tag / AdSense code snippets in my website manually & it is also showing in my website’s page source but the Google AdSense is still showing me this error:

“We couldn’t verify your site. Make sure that the changes you made to your site are published and accessible by the Google AdSense crawler. If you’re still having issues try another method.”

And If I am trying to add it through Site Kit for Google in my WordPress Website it is also showing me this error:

“An error occurred: The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.”

I have tried every solution by deactivating all the plugins & changing to a different theme & already checked everything if there is any plugin or theme that is causing the problem of Site Kit (Google AdSense, Google Search Console) not connecting to my WordPress site but I can’t find problem with anything.

Please Let me know what should I do.

Thanks for reaching out @twilight333. If you’d like to share your Site Health information we can hopefully determine more on this after performing some checks. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.?

Note that the initial message you reported regarding AdSense may be best queries with the product experts over at the AdSense Help Center, but we can hopefully figure out what’s happening with regards trying to set up Site Kit.

Many thanks for sharing @twilight333. From the checks I performed on your site, I don’t see any obvious cause for this setup message. I do see a couple of plugins active that have configurations which could potentially impact Site Kit setup. Based on this, please follow the steps below to help rule out a plugin conflict:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.

Let me know how you get on with the above, or ask if you have any questions.

Thankyou for your response. I have also done what you’ve said above but it is still showing me the below two errors:

‘An error occurred: Failed to verify the site using the META verification token’

‘An error occurred: The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.’

Kindly let me know, What should I do now to solve this problem.

Thanks for the update @twilight333, and sorry to hear that issues remain. To troubleshoot this further, please share the following:

    1. Do you see any ‘WP_ENVIRONMENT_TYPE’ references when checking your wp-config.php file? If so, please share what you see. You’ll find this file in the root directory of your site from your hosting file manager, or FTP. We have more details on how such references can impact Site Kit here.
    2. ?As I noticed some additional .htaccess rules, can you visit your permalinks page (Settings > Permalinks) and press the “Save change” button? This will recreate a fresh .htaccess file for you. I ask as rules applied at .htaccess level can impact Site Kit behavior.?

In your initial support topic, you also mentioned an error from AdSense when trying to add the AdSense snippet manually. As the error you’re facing when setting up Site Kit related to Search Console, can you try to verify site ownership manually, independent of Site Kit, while sharing whether you are able to then complete Site Kit setup? Here is a guide on verifying ownership, and you can use the below shortcut for site verification (replacing the example.com with your own URL).
    https://search.google.com/search-console?resource_id=https://example.com

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Thanks for the support,

    1. I didn’t find any ‘WP_ENVIRONMENT_TYPE’ references when I was checking my wp-config.php file.
    2. I have also done the Permalinks Settings as you’ve suggested, but it is still showing error…
    3. As you’ve told me to verify my site ownership with Google search console, I had done it approximately 3 months ago, but suddenly in the previous month it was not showing any analytics related to my website and asking for site verification again. I didn’t even delete my HTML file, which I used to verify the site ownership, but it started asking for site verification again.
So, I have tried again to verify the site ownership of Google Search Console. As you’ve stated above, you can see here?that I have added the HTML file in the root directory of my website. But it is showing me this error.
I have also tried the HTML tag verification method manually, but it is still not detecting the meta tag/snippet…

I have described my issue above. Kindly let me know what should I do further to solve the issue…

@twilight333 Thank you for sharing the information you have thus far. Could I please check with you if you have tried attempting a Site Kit reset? If not, could you try this and see if you encounter the same again when trying to set up?

    Hi, Adam Dunnage
Thankyou, for your response, I have tried the reset Site Kit solution as well but it didn’t solve the problem. Due to that I can’t Approve my Site at Google AdSense and Google Search Console.

Sorry for late response, Due to a problem I wasn’t able to reply you on time.

Kindly tell me the one exact solution / or let me know what should I do now to solve this problem….

@twilight333 No problem at all, I have reopened this topic and will be happy too continue to support you. Please can I check with you at this time if you have tried to verify in Search Console through DNS configuration?

If not, is this something you could try? More information can be found here.

    Hi Adam Dunnage,

    Thank you for your response.

I’ve tried the DNS Verification method to solve Google Search Console problem, It had been solved through this. But now when I’m trying to connect my website to Site Kit, it is showing me the same error.

Kindly tell me the one exact solution / or let me know what should I do now to solve this problem….

@twilight333 Thanks for the update. When checking your DNS records I can see a valid Search COnsole record. So I am not sure why it’s not verifying with DNS or meta upload. This leads me to believe that this is an issue on the Search Console side and not Site Kit. With that in mind we can only help with Site Kit issues so you could next try reaching out to the Search Console Help Center where the people over there may be able to help you further with this.
