    Not really sure when this happened, because I SO rarely even use Google+ … but in checking all the share buttons I noticed that the Google+ share selected a random, unrelated photo from the post *sidebar* (as opposed to any of the main post’s images or, most logically, the *primary* image for the post), making the share functionally useless. (Imagine a share for an obituary, with a random ad image displaying!)

    Is there a way to fix or edit this? The Facebook and Twitter shares pull from YoastSEO, but there are no options for any other social shares there any longer.

    What are my options? (Other than simply giving up on Google+ like most of the rest of the world.)

    Hi singout,

    Many apologies for the delayed response.

    A good SEO plugin should be adding a tag especially:

    <meta itemprop="image" content="https://example.com/mycoolimage.png">

    Simple Share Buttons Plus adds this with the meta functino enabled, please check into what your theme/seo plugins are doing to see if they are adding this.

    Thanks,

    David
