I have been checking my posts in Google search results. It seems that they are being picked up but the results always show the link as the title of the site and strap line which then of course links to my homepage and never the post.
I have created several categories and am careful that the post links contain the full post title. Any ideas what I have I done wrong. PS. Whilst I am loving blogging, I am better at the writing than the technical bits so please would it be OK to explain in the simplest of terms. Thank you

Of course, sorry. https://www.baddognews.com and thank you.

Actually the Home URL is shown as (Google site:https://www.baddognews.com/):

    Site Name | Site Description

(which is normal) and the rest of the posts/pages are in the form

    Page/Post/Archive Title |Site Name

Are you using an SEO plugin? If not check with theme provider or go ahead and use an SEO plugin such as WordPress SEO by Yoast and make sure to add your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools (and I would then also use Google Analytics)

With the SEO plugin, you can set a template for how the pages/posts are shown when the site is indexed and listed (Overriding theme). Note such changes (how the site shows in search on Google) happen at Google’s pace and are not at all immediate.

Fabulous, thanks so much. I will start implementing the advice straight away.
