    Hi Support,

    Currently I am experiencing issues with the sitemap being appended to my search console in Google.

    I am receiving this issue after submitting the sitemap.xml located at https://autobedrijfvugts.nl/sitemap.xml. (the one being generated by Yoast Plugin)

    The following error occurs:

    Your sitemap does not appear to have a supported file format. Make sure your sitemap meets our sitemap guidelines and resubmit it.

    I added this to the wp-cache ignore section since after a google search WP-cache could be a problem:

    sitemap(_index)?\.xml(\.gz)?
    ([a-z0-9_\-]+)?sitemap\.xsl
    [a-z0-9_\-]+-sitemap([0-9]+)?\.xml(\.gz)?

    Anyway, the problem isn;’t fixed yet and I am out of solutions. Could anybody help me out with this issue?

    Thanks heaps,

    Best Regards,
    Kevin.

    @galbaras

    I’ve also tried that link. So that couldn’t be the problem.

    Yoast SEO generates sitemap_index.xml and not sitemap.xml. If you remove the sitemap.xml from your Google search console property and submit the `sitemap_index.xml, does this resolve the issue?

    Did you read my previous reply to galbaras? I already tried that! It doesn’t work either.

    Note: it’s in dutch and it says file format incorrect.

    Unfortunately, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

    I don’t think this is anything site specific. I found several similar issues on the NET. It’s overkill to pay €79 euro’s for an issue that appeared randomly after updating the plugin.

    I am ok with a quoted price for just 1 fix but I am not going to pay the full 79 euros for just the small issue.

    Best,
    kevin.

    Hey @kevin15nl,

    Did you fix the issue in the meantime? We’ve just inspected your sitemap and it appears to be working and is in the correct format.

    Are you still getting that error in Google Search Console? If so, we suggest removing the sitemap and resubmitting it to the search engines.

    It is not fixed yet unfortunately..

    I am still getting the error in Google Search Console. I’ve already tried several things:

    1. deleted and resubmitted sitemap
    2. Enable and Disable sitemap.xml option in Yoast plugin several times
    3. Checked xml with online xml validator

    NOthing worked yet…

    @everyone

    Okey so I found the issue which was caused by the AIOWS plugin. The firewall section which allows you to disable Google Bots was enabled so Google obviously couldn’t crawl it.

    I hope Yoast Plugin takes this part in their Knowledge base as well since this caused me over 6 days of no sitemap crawling….

    Anyway.

    Case closed.
