    Hello everyone,

I have read the posts about Google Search Console not being able to fetch the sitemap, and have try to follow the solutions but I can’t seem to get it to work. The Sitemap is reachable, even from the SC link. I have removed and re-entered the sitemap, recreated it a bunch of times… I don’t know what else to do. This has been going on for months now.

For context: I changed hosting some months ago and did a new site from scratch in WP. It used to be an adobe muse site. Since then I have had trouble with the SC still trying to fetch the old pages. and crawling and indexing haven’t been working correctly. But there are no error in the SC, besides not indexing anything besides the main page.

I hope finally getting the Sitemap on SC helps fix the problems.

Therror in the Sitemaps page of SC is “Sitemap could not be read” (/sitemap.xml). I’ve tried using the .html address, but it says its an unsupported format (or something like that).

It is an extremely simple site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@jevallejo, when you put any of the pages in your site into the URL Inspector, what do you see?

Have you checked the access or error logs for your hosting account?

    thank you for replying.

If I put the https://criolla.eu/sitemap.xml in the inspector it says it is indexed, crawled and https. all green checkmarks.

Same happens if I put the main page. But if I put /impressum/ which is reachable directly through the browser, the inspector says it is not available on google, not indexed and not crawled…

for now I’m going to start requesting indexing of all the few pages in my site, but google should know (through the sitemap?) what is the structure of the site, correct?

On my hosting service (strato) I don’t find any errors (but can’t find any logs either).

    Understood.

That’s correct. Unfortunately, your experience is not uncommon and also not a direct result of our software which behaves the same way for all websites. Anyway, we’re working on new premium features that make this troubleshooting and resolution very simple and straightforward.

Submitting the pages manually is the right next step and hopefully the issue will not re-emerge (although it has even for our own website in the past).
