    Hey Yoast,
I’m trying to submit the sitemap,https://jenkintownendo.com/sitemap_index.xml, via Google Search Console and it keeps saying that the type is unknown and the status is “Couldn’t Fetch”. All of my themes, plugins, and WordPress core are up to date. I’ve also cleared all cache, deleted the sitemap from Search Console, and resubmitted it. I don’t have a robots.txt file, so that’s not the issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @pfeilal23

We are sorry to hear about your issue. We can see that your sitemap is loading correctly which means that our plugin is generating the sitemap with no issues.

Unfortunately, Google doesn’t provide any more information as to why they cannot read the sitemap.

Did you submit the sitemap to the Google Search Console profile that matches the preferred URL format including http(s) and www or non-www? If so, we suggest contacting Google for further assistance: https://support.google.com/webmasters/.

Please note that in Google’s support forum there are quite a few users (with and without Yoast SEO) seeing this error. Some say it resolves itself within a few days. Others say it works in the old Search Console. But many have no resolution and suspect it’s a bug in the new Search Console.

    Closed. No further questions.
