Google Search Console / Sitemap could not be read

    I’m not able to add the sitemap.xml to the google search console. It keeps telling me “Sitemap couldn’t be read”. I don’t know anymore what to do.

    I hope you’re doing well.

    I couldn’t find a technical issue with your site. You may have encountered a fluke with Google’s services — with constant updates to their systems, they’re not immune to errors, and unexpected issues may arise.

    People reported that “pending” and “couldn’t be read” are the same error and that Google doesn’t distinguish between the two states. However, this issue was reported over 4 years ago.

    If it were pending, they should’ve read it by now and reported about when it was last read, the discovered pages, etc.

    Otherwise, please try submitting it again, and let me know if you’re still finding issues. A firewall on the site or server may interfere with Google’s services.
