Google Plus website link

Hey,

Has anyone run into an issue with the “Link Your Website” feature of Google plus?

I am not talking about authorship, but just linking to a website with the code snippet below.

I am receiving this message:
Check that the line of code was added to your site’s homepage and that the modified homepage is live on your site. Then try testing again.

If you look at the website source:

you will see that it is in there in this format
<link rel="publisher" href="https://plus.google.com/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" />

One added by WordPress SEO by Yoast and the other I added to the header.php.
I added the top one because I didn’t think the Yoast one was being seen.

Anyway, I also have the google+ buttons on the site.

So I am not sure what exactly it is looking for. And from what I have read the link rel= code should be acceptable.

Any ideas?
