• Google Plus seems to be pretty finicky when it comes to what image it displays whenever someone posts a link. I have a G+ page that I post links to the blog articles on, and some themes seem to require a featured image, whereas others simply use the first one found in the blog article itself. However, switching to Customizr seems to result in the logo being always displayed no matter which combination I choose. I’m not sure why this works in other themes (or why it is so quirky).

An update: I posted an article this evening, and the image at the top of the article (not a featured image, BTW) showed on the G+ post. So, I went through what is different, and there are two things:

    1. JetPack had changed the default permissions to “circles” instead of “public”, and I had changed it back. I’m not sure this is the cause, though.

    2. The image was not uploaded to the blog. I had trouble downloading a Wikimedia Commons image, and I gave up and just put an image src link into the post.

It’s the only post I’ll be making on that blog today, as I’ve been busy today and have stuff to do in the morning. I am scratching my head, though. I’ll try to play with it more tomorrow afternoon.

Well, I’ve posted three posts today, trying to recreate the conditions under which an image other than the logo shows on G+, and I cannot seem to do it. I’ve tried linking to an image on Wikimedia Commons, upload with a subtitle using the h2 tag, upload without an h2 subtitle preceding it, and all three did not show the logo. I have verified that all 3 are publicly shared, so that variable seems to be out.

I don’t know what more info to give about this right now.

*all three showed the logo instead of the image*

I just want to mention that there have been about three (maybe four) updates since I last posted. It does seem to post the featured image (not one posted at beginning of article but marked as featured for that article) at times, but it doesn’t seem consistent. Night before last, I posted an article and it showed the logo on G+, but this evening it showed the featured image. Whatever you’re doing, it is getting closer.
