    Hello, I have encountered an error that prevents me from purchasing a product using Google Pay and pops up an error message: To complete your transaction with Google Pay, you must log in or create an account…

    It is a case where customer registration is in progress- only during the shopping cart and at the same time in Woocommerce it is disabled to purchase without registration.

    The problem is then that Google Pay does not want to allow the purchase to an unregistered user. Since the registration takes place after the purchase, this is an unsolvable circle.

    For normal shipping of products it is possible to turn off the mandatory registration in Woocommerce and everything works, unfortunately I sell digital products where creating an account is necessary.

    Kindly go ahead with describing each step a visitor has to go through, in order to purchase one of the available (digital) products at the site. The full picture is not clear to me currently, I’m afraid.

    Furthermore, to get an idea of how your site is configured, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status, as exemplified here? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Thank you for the message. The procedure for purchasing the product is as follows.
    1) add to cart
    2) filling in the registration data (name/email and password) at the checkout
    3) Below the registration details then confirm the purchase using your card/PayPal/Google pay

    In the past, everything worked. Now Google pay gives a message that the user is not registered. This is true as registration is done after the purchase based on the checkout details. However, other payment methods work and even Google Pay has worked in the past.

    Thanks for the information.

    Is everything on your site updated (that includes plugins and the themes)?

    Do you know when did this start happening?

    Have you made any changes to the website around that time such as updating plugins, adding new plugins, updating or changing the theme, adding custom code, etc?

    Just to confirm, this is happening with multiple customers, correct? So it is happening on multiple devices/internet connections/browsers, right?

    Are the Stripe logs enabled? If they are, can you share them with us?
    If they aren’t, you can enable them at WooCommerce > Payments > Stripe > Settings > Advanced Settings. Then please try to purchase something with Google Pay to see if it generates error logs on WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
