    Hello Litespeed Cache support forum,

I am a user of the Litespeed cache plugin, and I am very satisfied with the performance I have gained using the plugin. However, when I test the site in Google Pagespeed Insight, it finds some issues regarding the CSS file generated by Litespeed when minifying and combining the website’s CSS, issues like “Eliminate render-blocking resources” and “Reduce unused CSS.”

I have read all the topics in this forum regarding this issue, and I understand that you can solve these issues if you use UCCS and CCSS settings in the plugin.

My problem is that to use these two settings you need to use quic.cloud

I prefer not to use quick.cloud as I would like to limit my data transfer to third countries in regards to GDPR.

I also understand that the issue might be solved by using Guest mode and Guest optimization, but I am unsure how this will affect the cookie banner on my site (required by e-privacy law and GDPR).

My Consent Management Platform provider (CMP) has advised me that the Cookie Banner and corresponding scripts should not be cached or delayed/deferred. And I have excluded them in every way I have found possible.

If I use Guest mode and Guest optimization, will these critical scripts be tampered with after all?

Does anybody have any advice on how to solve these performance issues with GDPR compliance in mind?

Also, If I need to make sure no cookies are cached (and thereby placed without the user’s consent), should I list them under Cache, [4] Excludes, Do Not Cache Cookies?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Oh, I already found the answer to the question regarding cookies in the documentation.

“This option can be more far-reaching than you may realize. If you exclude a cookie that exists on every page of your site, then you are essentially excluding your entire site from being cached.”

So i guess I should not exclude the cookies, as it is not the cookies per say that is excluded, but the page the cookie is placed on. And this was not what I intended to do.

no , guest mode/optimization will also need to use the CCSS/UCSS which in turn , also needs to connect to QUIC cloud ??

@qtwrk – Are you sure this is true?

I did a test earlier and activated Guest mode and Guest optimization, and it seemed to work. My score in Google Pagespeed Insight was 100% in all categories, but I disabled it again because I was unsure exactly how it did it.

I didn’t get any warning from Litespeed that this required a Domain Key for quic.cloud and I don’t have one already.

yes , guest optm will enable UCSS/CCSS , which always requires domain key and QC service

what you see is probably some features that comes with guest optm , for example JS delay that address Eliminate render-blocking resources for JS files , for CSS render-block , it also need to use CCSS , so is the Reduce unused CSS need to use UCSS

OK. Thank you, now i see.

So what I am experiencing when activating Guest mode/Guest optimization is some features that does not require quic.cloud.

It does give me 100% in Google Pagespeed Insight, though. But when I look further under Performance it does still list the issues regarding “Eliminate render-blocking resources” and “Reduce unused CSS”, so you are right.

I guess you also answered my question about whether the scripts from my CMP will be tampered with when using Guest mode/Guest optimization, as you mentioned that JavaScripts will be delayed. (Or does it respect what I have already excluded?)

Do you have any other advice on how to solve these performance issues?

    Maybe another self-hosted tool?

all the optimization technique applied in guest mode/optimization is also available for normal mode

yes, you can exclude js delay in guest mode as well
